Vera Petersen

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Vera Petersen on June 21, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on March 30, 1933, in Germany, Vera was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Vera was the beloved wife of the late Otto Petersen, who predeceased her in August 2016. Together, they shared a lifetime of love, devotion, and partnership. As first-generation immigrants from Germany, they built a life together in Brooklyn, New York, where they owned a deli and became cherished members of their community before eventually settling in Nesconset, New York. Their enduring love, hard work, and unwavering commitment to one another served as an inspiration to all who knew them.

Vera was a remarkable woman whose warmth and kindness touched countless lives. She was loved not only by her family but also by the many neighbors and friends who were fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her loving children, her daughter Karen and husband George, and her son Ralph; and was a proud and devoted grandmother to Rhianna, and William (Kate).

Vera's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
