Middle Island, New York- Violet Olsen, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on November 16th, 2022, at the age of 79 years.
Born on October 19, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, to Elizabeth Donnald Murphy and Peter Murphy, Violet was the heart of her family. She grew up in a small apartment with her five siblings and used her mother’s loving example to make sure that the future home she created for her family was warm, welcoming and had room for all. Violet met her husband, Stanley, when she was 12 and she knew he would be the one for her. Her intuition was right. They were married in 1963 and raised three children together in Bellmore and Massapequa Park. They created a home full of memories, as Violet was an extraordinary hostess for any celebration and always enjoyed expertly decorating their home. Violet loved cruising, Johnny Mathis, and the lines your vacuum makes in a carpet. She enjoyed nothing more than getting family and friends together, both in her home and in the Catskills, where over fifty relatives gathered every year to spend time together in laughter and love. These celebrations included not only her siblings, their spouses, and children, but her chosen family as well. She brought everyone together with comfort and her incredible cooking. Her love of bread and butter was second only to her love for those she surrounded herself with.
Violet will be missed by her loving husband and best friend, Stanley Ivar Olsen; their children: Keith and Andrea Olsen, Susan and Marco Mulder, and Jennifer and Robert Alessi; and their eight grandchildren: Eric Olsen, Amanda and Sam Dellheim, Danielle Mulder, Lauren Mulder, Madison Mulder, Alexandra Alessi, Andrew Alessi, and Brandon Alessi. Her legacy of love will continue to resonate in the hearts of those she knew.
