William Csorny Obituary

William J. Csorny of Stony Brook, NY, peacefully passed away on July 28, 2026, at the remarkable age of ninety-nine. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend, his warmth, wisdom, and presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born in Manhattan on May 15, 1927, to Andrew and Anna Csorny. Bill carried a lifelong fondness for his city roots. He delighted everyone with vibrant stories of growing up in Manhattan—whether it was playing street hockey, shooting dice, swimming the East River crawl, or concocting his own unique dinners by tying a potato to a string, lighting it on fire, and spinning it inside a can. Bill's joyful spirit, positive demeanor, and wonderful sense of humor lit up every room he entered.

Bill married the love of his life, Marie Wallace, in 1953. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with decades of love, laughter, and devotion as they raised their six children in the tight knit community of St. James. They embraced everything the North Shore of Long Island had to offer, from lively family barbecues, pool parties, and beach days to clamming on the shore; there was never a dull moment in their home.

A true man of service, Bill proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps before dedicating 36 years to the New York City Fire Department, retiring as a Captain. For Bill, helping others was far more than a career—it was his calling and the very core of who he was. Whenever anyone needed a hand, Bill answered the call without hesitation, a profound sense of duty and compassion defining his extraordinary life.

He lived by shining example, serving as an inspiration to his family and friends. With a deep rooted faith and an unwavering commitment to his loved ones, as well as cherished friendships woven into every single day, Bill’s life was truly complete and well-lived. His family is grateful for all the years shared with him.

Bill was predeceased by his wife, Marie, their son, William, and their granddaughter, Lauren. Beloved father of the late William (Monica), Donald (Mary), James (Amy), Ann Marie, Austin (Nancy), and Jean. Dear grandfather of the late Lauren, Kathryn, Brian (Lindsay), Kevin (Nandy), Donald (Manita), Harry, Alex (Erin), John (Maris), Shannon, and AJ. Loving great grandfather to Averie, Madden, Tieghan, Liam, and Ellani.
